Leyland Packaging through the pandemic

Leyland Packaging through the pandemic

The year 2020 was a rollercoaster for almost every industry across the globe and we continue to feel the effects of it nearing the end of 2021. Particularly faced with challenges was the packaging industry, as we have been required to reach packaging solutions for unpredicted circumstances we could not have possibly imagined.  We wanted to touch base on our activities throughout the pandemic and how we are progressing through the new ‘normal’ here at Leyland Packaging.

The peak of the pandemic

Even during the worst of the Covid-19 outbreak, we consider ourselves to be lucky enough that circumstances allowed us to continue our operations safely and effectively throughout the entire pandemic operating as close to ‘normal’ as we could. As an industry we faced a number of challenges such as material shortages and increased lead times, yet we continued to meet our customer needs throughout, despite the obstacles that came our way. We met a number of packaging requirements from the alternative packaging solutions that were needed from the nation-wide product shortages to the increasing demand for e-commerce packaging, as online ordering became the leading method of shopping for most consumers.

We are also proud to have played our part in the coming together of the UK to help each other out through the difficult times, as we delivered PPE and other pandemic items such as sanitising stations, sanitising gels, aprons, and face masks to a number of companies to ensure they could carry out their work safely.

Going forward

Whilst the past few years have been a demanding period for many companies, we count ourselves fortunate enough to say we have come out of the other side stronger as a company. There are some positives to come from this adverse time as here at Leyland we have actually grown as a company over the past 12 months. We have expanded our workforce through the recruitment of new office, warehouse and driving staff, who have fit right in with our friendly team and bring valuable packaging experience to our customers.

In order to keep up with growing demands and to maintain the effective and reliable delivery service we provide to customers, we have added vehicles to increase our number of delivery vehicles. Additionally, we have formed a new relationship with a local storage company due to the demand that continues to develop. As a company we place a high value on developing relationships with both our suppliers and our customers and aim to continue this in the future.

Throughout the most challenging of market conditions, we are incredibly proud of our growth as a company. From all of us here at Leyland Packaging we hope you are doing well post pandemic and thank you for your continued support throughout. We look forward to solving your packaging solutions in the future.
